Product Reviews

Product reviews related to precision rifles, optics, and gear from an independent source. My goal is to tell you the good and the bad of every product I try out. I’m committed to 100% transparency with my readers. Multiple manufacturers have contacted me to “support the website” by making donations or becoming an advertising partner. However, I feel part of the value I offer is being completely independent. I say it like it is, not as a firearm companies want to hear it. At this point, I’ve turned down all of the offers, so that I’m not limited in what I write or compelled to pull punches when reviewing products.

Ruger Precision Rifle Review

Ruger Precision Rifle

Very few rifles have received the hype and fanfare like the Ruger Precision Rifle. And for the first time, Remington Defense is making weapons like this available to civilians! 7 Ways the New ARC Rifle Action Blends the Best of Old & New

Ted Karagias of American Rifle Company (ARC) wowed us last year, with his fresh and innovative complete rifle system and an action, earning the title of Most Innovative Product of SHOT Show 2014. Now his Mausingfield Action has officially made it into production, and is available to the public. It received a lot of attention at SHOT Show 2015. A few weeks ago, Ted sent me action serial #00001 to test, and I used it to fire hundreds of rounds of Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor Match Ammo. Here is a quick video that highlights some of the features of ARC’s Mausingfield Action, and ...

Shooting Rest: HOG Saddle & PIG Saddle Review

The HOG Saddle represents a new kind of shooting rest that has entered the market, made for extreme precision. It was designed by Josh Stabler, a Marine Scout Sniper and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran, who knows a thing or two about demanding field conditions and surgically precise shooting. When Josh was a scout sniper in Iraq, they came up with all kinds of homemade rifle rests to help them get a steady shot when the location didn’t allow them to layout prone (like the one shown below). In fact, Josh said in his experience the majority of shots can’t be ...

AI Skins Review: AICS ViperSkins

A few weeks ago I wrote the AI Stock Shootout, which compared the different AI stock configurations available.  One of the products I mentioned that showed a lot of promise was Victor Company’s ViperSkins, so I thought a good follow-up would be a more in-depth review on that product. What are ViperSkins? The Accuracy International Chassis System (AICS) is different than most stocks.  The body of most stocks like McMillan, H.S. Precision, and others are solid with some type of metal pillars or bedding block permanently embedded within them.  The body of the stock also provides part of the structural rigidity needed for ...
